An Introduction To Acupuncture
In this article we look at some
introductory concepts, tips and helpful information about
the ancient healing practice of acupuncture ...
Laser Acupuncture – Past Meets Future
Laser acupuncture is the latest innovation in oriental
medicine. It may sound like an amazing contradiction but this
new development shows a lot of promise. Acupuncture is based on
centuries-old Chinese medicine. It is rather controversial
because it was grounded not on science but on ancient Chinese
metaphysics. The concept of Yin and Yang is central to the
development of acupuncture. However, recent medical studies
have shown that laser acupuncture is capable of treating
certain ailments.
Laser Acupuncture – A Better
Alternative?
Laser treatment can be a good alternative to those who are
afraid of needles. It practically works on the same principles
as traditional acupuncture. The points where the needle is
inserted is now flashed with a laser instead. The laser
frequently used by acupuncturists emits a beam that is about
ten times more intense than laser pointers used in
presentations. This extra energy is believed to cause the
release of endorphins just like traditional acupuncture.
This type of laser treatment is becoming very popular and
demand is growing at a rapid pace. However, there has been no
extensive study on the effectiveness of laser beams. It has not
even been shown to be as effective as acupuncture with needles.
It has been suggested that part of the allure is its
convenience. Many patients are frightened at the thought of
having needles stuck to them, even if these needles are made so
thin that they are hardly felt at all.
The rate of success using laser treatment is above fifty
percent according to clinics using them. However, this figure
is not verified by medical researchers. The truth is that
everything is pretty much gray area when it comes to this type
of laser treatment. Many experts would suggest that people try
needle acupuncture if they want immediate results. This is
because traditional acupuncture has been verified by science to
be true with some of its claims.
For those who want to try alternative medicine because they
are fed up with other expensive treatments, laser treatment
should be a good alternative. It is very affordable and
convenient. Treatment may differ from one clinic to another. It
is important to ask questions thoroughly. You should get laser
acupuncture from a licensed acupuncturist.

Acupuncture
Overview - Theory
Acupuncture is a
holistic system that sees the body as a
whole, and illness as a disturbance
somewhere in that whole. The actual
practice of acupuncture involves
understanding the centers and meridians
of the body, and where the points that
control various organs and bodily systems
are. It involves the use of pressure,
often applied by inserting fine steel
needles into the body, at those points
and manipulating those needles to achieve
certain effects.
