Acupuncture charts adorn the offices of a great many acupuncturists. In ancient China, an acupuncture chart was a necessary item. Acupuncture is largely influenced by the concept of Chi or life energy. Chi flows throughout the body in a perfect pattern. A disruption on the flow of energy results in illnesses. This is what acupuncture tries to correct. By inserting needles it hopes to bring back the correct flow of Chi in the body. Acupuncture charts help illustrate the key points of Chi. Acupuncture Charts – Useful Guides Acupuncture is still viewed with suspicion by others. Many view it as some sort of eastern mystic practice. But the truth is that it is slowly gaining acceptance, not only among the general public but among medical experts as well. There has been scientific evidence to backup some of the claims made by acupuncturists. These include cures on back pain, nausea, headaches and more. The Chi or life energy follows certain paths throughout the body. These paths are called meridians or channels. Acupuncture points are located throughout the meridians – these are the points where needles should be placed. An acupuncture chart can contain a lot of information. Typically, the acupuncture points are too numerous to plot throughout the human body. Many charts only feature specific portions of the body. Some charts, more than simply display the acupuncture points, also display which types of diseases are associated with it. This is an interesting and educational way to engage patients on exactly how acupuncture works. Many doctors or students studying actually need charts. It’s a helpful way to memorize all the meridians and acupuncture points. Accurate charts typically consist of several pages of content. Some come in poster-sized prints, others in booklet form. A more convenient and informative chart comes in the form of an electronic program for personal digital assistants. Be aware that some charts are not for educational purposes and are only for decoration purposes. Acupuncture charts are not uniformly produced. There is some variation in the designation of acupuncture points amongst acupuncture experts. Some may display different points from other charts. Unfortunately, there are no rules governing the creation of these charts, so the buyer simply has to be careful in choosing.
