Have you ever tried using acupuncture for upper stomach pain? Well, traditional Chinese medicine has been used for the clinical treatment of abdominal pain and other related conditions. A lot of people appear dissatisfied with the way doctors manage their pain and have looked to acupuncture for upper stomach pain relief.

Acupuncture for Upper Stomach Pain and Other Problems

More and more people are turning to less conventional modes of healthcare to ease their physical suffering. One such therapy that has caught the public's eye over the last several years is acupuncture. This ancient Chinese art has shown great promise for providing considerable aches-and-pains relief for a wide variety of conditions.

Medical experts have found acupuncture techniques highly effective in treating abdominal pain but also for pain related to gallbladder and liver disorders, gynecological issues and urinary blockages. Administering acupuncture can help smooth out excess liver energy. It is also useful in strengthening the spleen, nourishing the body fluids and calming a patient's mind.

While initial acupuncture treatment can yield dramatic results in terms of significantly diminished pain, patients still have a ways to go before they can restore their body to its previous pain-free state.

Once the stomach pain has been dealt with, it's time to address the patient's lifestyle. Some acupuncturists prescribe the intake of a combination of Chinese herbal medicines. Such a combination sedates rising heat from the liver and helps even out liver energy. The prescription might be based on pulse and tongue diagnoses or other immediately observable conditions.

Another thing to consider is a person's diet. Green tea comes highly recommended. It livens up the mind and strengthens a person's spleen. Green tea also has natural caffeine which doesn't cause the jitters.

While there's nothing wrong with drinking coffee, some acupuncture practitioners advise their abdominal pain patients to avoid the stuff. Coffee is considered a cold substance (energetically speaking) and conflicts with the spleen since the latter favors warming foodstuffs. In addition, coffee drains the kidney's yin and yang. Although coffee gives its drinkers a temporary energy boost, it actually depletes their energy resources. Iced beverages are also bad news since they sap the spleen.

Oriental medicine and acupuncture are able to work simultaneously on all levels – from the mental to the physical to the spiritual to the emotional. Using acupuncture for upper stomach pain relief is just one of the many ways acupuncture helps.
